Australian Intergroup
What is Intergroup?
Intergroup is where representatives from Australian in-person and virtual groups come together to act as a service centre for meetings and assist in carrying the SLAA message.
Services
Services currently provided by the SLAA Australian Intergroup include:
- Providing Public Liability insurance for in-person and virtual meetings Australia-wide
- maintaining SLAA’s Australian web site (slaa.org.au), which includes meeting lists, news and other resources.
- distributing SLAA literature imported from America and subsidising shipping costs.
- SLAA Australian phoneline
- ZOOM Pro accounts for use by meetings – email webmaster@slaa.org.au
- repayable start-up funds for new in person meetings
- Production and email distribution of Newsletter
- acting as a liaison with the public, media and professionals as well as responding to newcomer inquiries
- assisting and seed funding the organising committees for conventions and retreats
- Appointing delegates to attend the SLAA international Annual Business Conference/Meeting.
- Group consciences are encouraged to discuss donating any surplus funds (over and above their prudent reserve) to Intergroup to help support these services
Meetings
- Intergroup meets monthly, generally on the second Monday, at 6.30 pm (AET Sydney/Melbourne time) on ZOOM.
- Each group (in-person or virtual) is asked to elect a Group Representative to attend Intergroup Meetings.
- Members or Groups can submit an agenda item by emailing secretary@slaa.org.au
- Any member may attend and speak at Intergroup. Only Group Representatives and Permanent Officeholders may vote.

All SLAA groups, in-person and virtual, are encouraged to elect a Group Representative to attend Intergroup, acting as a conduit between their own meeting and Intergroup. If you would like to serve on Intergroup or ask any questions email secretary@slaa.org.au any time. The service roles in Intergroup are as follows:

Give to Intergroup
Groups are encouraged to forward excess funds to the Intergroup bank account.
From September 2024, Intergroup contributes 40% of all new contributions, from members and groups, to Fellowship World Services (FWS) to support the vital work FWS does for the international SLAA fellowship.
