Intergroup Incorporation –  Next Steps

In July 2025 Intergroup advised the process and reasons for moving our legal structure to Incorporation. Some other Australian 12 Step fellowships have incorporated at the regional, State or national level.

Intergroup has been gradually drafting an Incorporated Intergroup Constitution, merging the current un-incorporated Intergroup Constitution into the standard incorporation clauses required by law.  The aim is to retain the unique features of the current un-incorporated Constitution. The incorporated Intergroup, which was initially created just to retain our slaa.org.au domain, will then be able to operate all the services currently performed by the  current un-incorporated Intergroup

The current draft for the Incorporated Intergroup Constitution is now available for feedback from the fellowship by March 8. This feedback will be considered by Intergroup and then the final draft will be agreed on.

Intergroup will then give formal notice, of at least 30 days of

  • A motion to amend the current Incorporated rules into the Incorporated Intergroup Constitution
  • A motion to dissolve the current unincorporated constitution, transferring all functions and assets to SLAA Australian Intergroup Incorporated

This notice will be given via

Feedback and question about this can be directed to the Intergroup Chair
